I was literally about to press the submit button for a paid version of Corona and I thought to myself, "I should look at what else is out there" -- I found Gideros and 20 minutes later and I couldn't believe my eyes. As a long time ActionScript programmer, I thought to myself, "I'm home..."

I won't even start on all the other reasons Gideros looks incredibly promising. Now I just need to start porting my game from Corona. My wife is kicking me for not looking sooner.

Thank you so much for an awesome SDK, and especially for not locking it down so hard.

I'm really excited and will be purchasing a license if nothing major comes up on the port.

Welcome! I was in exactly the same position as you. I wrote my game in Corona and was on the verge of paying for it but then discovered Gideros and converted my game over. Best decision I ever made! Gideros is much more stable and flexible than Corona and you can change, for example, Android permissions which Corona doesn't let you do. My Android game runs faster when compiled with Gideros than with Corona. Best of all, Gideros has a free version so you don't need to take a big financial risk.

The conversion from Corona to Gideros is not trivial however. It took me about 2 weeks on and off. Some of the concepts are rather different...

How about Shandy? @OZApps is it still on?

@ar2rsawseen, it is still available for those that might want, but for most of Gideros developers this is a very trivial thing. Gideros developers are quite talented.

In case someone wants to use Shandy they can always get it. It needs a bit of update for sure to keep up with the new features that have been added to Gideros.

it could be a re-mapping of the function so that each time you use that the gideros version takes over and then calls the lua byte code.

something like
